BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) in Turkey

Reshape and add natural-looking volume to your buttocks using your own fat, with surgery coordinated at accredited Turkish hospitals.

Overview

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in Turkey is fat-transfer surgery that uses liposuction to remove fat from areas like the abdomen, waist or thighs, then re-injects the purified fat to add volume and improve the shape of the buttocks. Done by an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon using safe, above-the-muscle (subcutaneous) injection technique, it can deliver a more contoured, proportionate figure. Unal Cakar is an independent health-tourism facilitator who connects international patients with vetted accredited clinics; he does not perform surgery, and you pay the clinic directly.

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a two-in-one body-contouring procedure. Despite the name, it is not a 'lift' in the surgical sense and uses no implants: surgeons harvest your own fat by liposuction, purify it, and graft it into the buttocks to enhance projection, roundness and overall proportion. Because it both slims the donor areas (such as the waist, abdomen, flanks and back) and augments the buttocks, many patients see an improved hourglass or athletic silhouette from a single operation.

BBL is one of the more technically demanding aesthetic operations and carries genuine risks if done poorly, so the surgeon's experience and injection technique matter enormously. Reputable clinics now inject fat only into the subcutaneous layer above the gluteal muscle, often with ultrasound guidance, to dramatically reduce the risk of fat embolism. It is a cosmetic, not medically necessary, procedure.

How it’s done

Surgery is performed under general anaesthetic and typically takes two to four hours depending on how many areas are treated. The surgeon first performs liposuction on the agreed donor zones through small incisions, removing excess fat while sculpting those areas. The harvested fat is then processed and purified to separate clean, viable fat cells from fluid, blood and oil.

The purified fat is re-injected into the buttocks in small amounts across many passes, building volume and contour in the subcutaneous plane only. Safety-conscious surgeons deliberately avoid injecting into or beneath the gluteal muscle, where large veins sit, because intramuscular injection is the main cause of fatal fat embolism. Because some grafted fat is naturally reabsorbed, the surgeon slightly over-corrects to allow for this. Incisions are tiny and usually closed with a stitch or left to drain, and you are placed in a compression garment before waking.

  4. 04

    Liposuction and fat transfer surgery

Under general anaesthetic, fat is harvested, purified and grafted into the buttocks in the subcutaneous plane. You wake in a compression garment and stay under observation.

  5. 05

    Recovery in Turkey

You rest for several days locally with nursing support, wound checks and guidance on positioning. A follow-up appointment confirms you are healing well before you fly home.

  6. 06

    Aftercare and remote follow-up

You return home with detailed instructions on your garment, sitting, activity and lymphatic massage. Unal stays reachable to coordinate any questions with the clinic during healing.

Is it right for you?

Good candidates are in stable general health, near a steady weight, have realistic expectations and enough donor fat to harvest for a meaningful result. Patients who are very slim may lack sufficient fat and may be advised against surgery or offered a staged approach. BBL is generally not recommended for people who smoke heavily (which impairs fat survival and healing), have uncontrolled diabetes, significant cardiovascular or clotting conditions, a high BMI, or who cannot avoid prolonged sitting during recovery. You should not undergo BBL if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy in the near term, and you must be able to give informed consent understanding it is elective cosmetic surgery. A surgeon's in-person assessment is the only way to confirm suitability.

Benefits

  • Adds natural-looking volume and improves buttock shape using your own tissue, with no implants
  • Simultaneously slims donor areas such as the waist, abdomen and flanks for a more sculpted overall figure
  • Fat is your own, so there is no risk of implant rejection or implant-related complications
  • Incisions are very small and scarring is typically minimal and well hidden
  • Coordinated at accredited Turkish hospitals with board-certified plastic surgeons at a fraction of UK or US prices
  • Structured aftercare and remote follow-up arranged through an independent patient advocate

Recovery & aftercare

Expect noticeable soreness, swelling and bruising in both the donor and buttock areas for the first one to two weeks; this is more like recovering from extensive liposuction than minor surgery. You will wear a compression garment for several weeks and must avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for roughly two to three weeks, using a BBL pillow or sitting on your thighs and sleeping on your front or side to protect the grafted fat. Light walking is encouraged early to reduce clot risk.

Many patients return to desk work in about two weeks and to fuller activity over three to six weeks, avoiding strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for around six weeks. Lymphatic drainage massage is often recommended to ease swelling and improve contour. Final shape settles over three to six months as swelling resolves and the surviving fat stabilises. We plan a stay of around seven days in Turkey so the surgeon can confirm safe early healing before you travel.

Results to expect

Once swelling subsides over the first few months, you can expect a fuller, rounder and more proportionate buttock contour together with a slimmer waistline from the liposuction. Around 60 to 70 percent of the transferred fat typically survives long-term; the rest is reabsorbed in the early months, which is why surgeons slightly over-fill at the time of surgery. The fat that remains behaves like the rest of your body fat, so significant future weight gain or loss can change the result. Outcomes vary between individuals and no specific size or shape can be guaranteed; the goal is a natural, balanced improvement rather than a fixed measurement.

Safety & honest risks

Like all surgery, BBL carries risks including infection, bleeding, fluid collections (seroma), asymmetry, contour irregularities, partial fat reabsorption that may need a touch-up, and anaesthetic complications. The most serious specific risk is fat embolism, where fat enters the bloodstream and travels to the lungs; historically this made BBL one of the highest-risk cosmetic operations. The risk is greatly reduced when fat is injected only into the subcutaneous layer above the muscle, never intramuscularly, ideally with ultrasound guidance and by an experienced surgeon operating on a healthy candidate. Blood clots (DVT) are another concern, mitigated by early mobilisation and, where appropriate, preventive measures. Choosing an accredited hospital, a board-certified plastic surgeon and following positioning and aftercare instructions are the most important ways to keep risk low.

Frequently asked

How much does a BBL cost in Turkey?

A Brazilian Butt Lift in Turkey typically starts from around £3,000, often as an all-inclusive package covering surgery, hospital stay and aftercare. The final price depends on how many areas are treated with liposuction and the volume of fat transferred, so you receive a personalised written quote after assessment.

Is a BBL safe?

BBL can be performed safely, but it is technically demanding and was historically the highest-risk cosmetic operation because of fat embolism. Risk is greatly reduced when an experienced board-certified surgeon injects fat only into the subcutaneous layer above the muscle, ideally with ultrasound guidance, in an accredited hospital, and when you are a healthy, well-selected candidate.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey?

Plan for around seven days. This allows time for pre-operative checks, the surgery itself, several days of monitored early recovery, and a follow-up appointment so the surgeon can confirm you are healing safely before you fly home.

When can I sit down normally after a BBL?

You should avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for roughly two to three weeks to protect the newly grafted fat. During this period you use a BBL pillow or sit on your thighs, and you sleep on your front or side. Most people return to careful desk work in about two weeks.

How much of the transferred fat survives?

Typically around 60 to 70 percent of the grafted fat survives long-term, while the rest is naturally reabsorbed in the first few months. Surgeons account for this by slightly over-filling, and your final shape settles over three to six months.

Am I too slim for a BBL?

Possibly. A BBL needs enough donor fat to harvest for a meaningful result, so very slim patients may not have sufficient fat. In that case a surgeon may advise gaining some weight first, a staged approach, or an alternative procedure. An in-person assessment confirms whether you are a candidate.

Will the results last and are scars visible?

The surviving fat is permanent and behaves like your other body fat, so major weight changes can alter the result. Incisions are very small, usually a few millimetres, and scars are typically minimal and well hidden in natural creases.
