Acne & Scar Treatment in Turkey
Clearer, more even skin through a tailored mix of medical acne care and scar-resurfacing treatments, coordinated at accredited Turkish dermatology clinics.
Overview
Acne and scar treatment in Turkey combines dermatologist-led acne control with resurfacing procedures that soften scars and even out skin tone, typically from around £120 a session. Because no single technique corrects everything, the dermatologist builds a combined plan matched to your skin type and scar pattern. Unal Cakar, an independent facilitator, arranges your assessment and trip with vetted accredited clinics, and you always pay the clinic directly.
Acne and scar treatment is a dermatologist-led programme that tackles two related problems: active acne (the spots, inflammation and congestion happening now) and the marks acne leaves behind — atrophic scars (ice-pick, boxcar and rolling depressions), raised hypertrophic or keloid scars, and discolouration such as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation or persistent redness. Because no single technique addresses every concern, treatment is usually a combination of medical therapy to calm and clear the skin and resurfacing procedures to remodel scar tissue and even out tone.
In Turkey, accredited dermatology and skin clinics offer the full toolkit — prescription topicals and oral medication, chemical peels, microneedling, fractional laser, radiofrequency microneedling, subcision and TCA CROSS — under specialist supervision. A proper assessment maps your skin type, scar pattern and history first, so the plan is matched to your skin rather than a one-size-fits-all package.
How it’s done
Treatment starts with calming any active acne, because resurfacing inflamed skin can worsen scarring and pigmentation. That may involve medical-grade topicals, oral antibiotics or, in resistant cases, isotretinoin under close supervision. Once the skin is stable, the dermatologist targets the scars themselves. Atrophic (depressed) scars respond to collagen-stimulating methods: microneedling and radiofrequency microneedling create controlled micro-injuries that rebuild collagen; fractional laser resurfaces the surface and deeper layers; subcision releases tethered rolling scars with a fine needle; and TCA CROSS deposits a tiny amount of acid into ice-pick scars to remodel them. Raised scars are softened with steroid injections or laser, while pigmentation and redness are treated with peels, lasers or light-based devices.
Most of these are performed in-clinic under topical anaesthetic cream, take 30-60 minutes, and are delivered as a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart rather than a single procedure. The combination and number of sessions depend on your scar type, skin tone and how your skin heals between visits.

Your journey, step by step
- 01
Online skin assessment
You share clear photos and your skin history; the dermatologist reviews them and suggests a likely plan and number of sessions before you travel.
- 02
In-person consultation & skin mapping
On arrival, the specialist examines your skin under good light, classifies your scar types and confirms or adjusts the plan.
- 03
Active-acne control
If you still have breakouts, the priority is settling the skin with medical therapy first, before any resurfacing.
- 04
Resurfacing / scar session
The chosen procedure — peel, microneedling, RF-microneedling, fractional laser, subcision or TCA CROSS — is performed under numbing cream.
- 05
Aftercare & sun protection
You leave with a tailored skincare and SPF routine; healing skin must be protected to avoid pigmentation.
- 06
Review & next session
Progress is reviewed remotely or in person, and follow-up sessions are scheduled, often back home or on a return visit.
Is it right for you?
Good candidates are adults whose active acne is controlled or mild and who have realistic expectations about gradual improvement of scarring. Atrophic scars, mild-to-moderate hypertrophic scars and post-acne pigmentation all respond well to a planned course. You are usually not a candidate for resurfacing while acne is severe and inflamed, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection (such as a cold sore in the treatment area) in the days before, or if you have recently taken isotretinoin — most clinics ask you to wait six months after finishing it before ablative laser or deep peels. Very dark skin tones can be treated but need careful device and setting choices to reduce the risk of pigment change, and a skilled dermatologist will adjust accordingly. Patients prone to keloids need a cautious, conservative approach.
Benefits
- A combined plan that treats both active acne and existing scars, not just one or the other
- Specialist-chosen techniques matched to your scar type and skin tone
- Smoother skin texture and a more even tone as collagen remodels over the following months
- Most sessions are walk-in, walk-out with little to no downtime
- Significantly lower per-session cost than the UK, Europe or the Gulf
- Structured aftercare and remote follow-up so progress continues after you fly home
Recovery & aftercare
Downtime depends entirely on the treatment. Light chemical peels and standard microneedling typically cause redness and mild flaking for 1-3 days, and most people return to normal activities the next day. Radiofrequency microneedling and fractional laser are more intensive: expect redness, swelling, a sandpaper-like texture and possible pinpoint scabbing for 3-7 days, with the skin fully settling over a couple of weeks. Subcision can cause bruising for up to a week.
Across all treatments, the non-negotiable part of recovery is sun protection and gentle skincare. Healing skin is vulnerable to pigmentation, so daily high-factor SPF, avoiding direct sun, and following the clinic's routine are essential. Because results build with collagen remodelling, you will keep seeing gradual improvement for three to six months after a course.
Results to expect
Acne scar treatment improves rather than erases scarring — realistic outcomes are a meaningful reduction in scar depth and visibility and a more even skin tone, not perfectly flawless skin. Most people need a course of three to six sessions, and the final result builds over three to six months as new collagen matures. Deep ice-pick and boxcar scars usually need combination approaches and more sessions, while pigmentation often responds faster than texture. A good dermatologist will tell you honestly what degree of improvement to expect for your particular scars.
Safety & honest risks
All resurfacing carries some risk. Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, flaking and sensitivity. More significant risks — uncommon in trained hands — include post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (especially in darker or tanned skin), prolonged redness, infection, cold-sore reactivation, and, with aggressive ablative treatment, new scarring. Treating skin while acne is still inflamed, over-treating, or skipping sun protection all raise these risks. Good clinics mitigate them by stabilising the acne first, patch-testing and adjusting device settings for your skin tone, prescribing antiviral cover when needed, spacing sessions sensibly, and enforcing strict aftercare. Tell your dermatologist about any history of cold sores, keloids, or recent isotretinoin use.
Why Turkey, with Unal
Per-session prices for peels, microneedling, RF-microneedling and laser in Turkey are commonly 50-70% lower than equivalent dermatology clinics in the UK, Europe or the Gulf, which makes a full course affordable — often from around £120 a session. Unal Cakar is an independent health-tourism facilitator and patient advocate, not a clinic: he vets and works only with accredited dermatology providers, arranges your assessment, translation, scheduling and logistics, and stays reachable for aftercare questions. You pay the clinic directly for your treatment — never Unal — and his coordination is sponsored by the partner hospitals, so his guidance stays on your side.
How I coordinate your acne & scar treatment
I match you to a vetted, accredited surgeon who specialises in this procedure, agree an itemised all-inclusive price and written guarantees before you book, and stay reachable through your treatment and aftercare back home. You only ever pay the clinic — never me.
Frequently asked
Can acne scars be removed completely?
No treatment guarantees scar-free skin, and any clinic that promises that is overselling. Realistically, a planned course can substantially reduce the depth and visibility of scars and even out skin tone — most people see a major improvement rather than perfection.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people need a course of three to six sessions spaced several weeks apart. Deep ice-pick or boxcar scars usually need more sessions and a combination of techniques, while pigmentation often improves faster.
Is laser or microneedling better for acne scars?
Neither is universally better — it depends on your scar type and skin tone. Microneedling and radiofrequency microneedling are versatile and safer for darker skin; fractional laser can be more powerful for certain scars but carries a higher pigmentation risk. A dermatologist matches the method to your skin.
Can I be treated while I still have active acne?
Mild acne can often be managed alongside treatment, but resurfacing inflamed, breaking-out skin can worsen scarring and pigmentation. The usual approach is to control active acne first, then treat the scars.
Does the treatment hurt?
Most procedures are done under a topical numbing cream and are well tolerated — described as tingling, heat or mild scratching rather than sharp pain. Stronger laser and RF-microneedling can feel more intense but are still manageable.
How much does acne and scar treatment cost in Turkey?
Sessions commonly start from around £120, depending on the technique and area treated, which is typically 50-70% less than UK, European or Gulf clinics. You get a clear per-session and per-course quote after your assessment, and you pay the clinic directly.
Is one trip enough, or do I need to keep coming back?
Because effective scar treatment is a course spread over weeks, you may not finish in a single trip. Many patients start in Turkey and continue compatible sessions at home, or plan a return visit; your dermatologist will design a realistic schedule and Unal helps coordinate remote follow-up.
